Welcome to my website
I am an experienced and versatile pilot, instructor, examiner, and aviation writer. A pilot who believes in keeping flying fun, relaxed and enjoyable, whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety, ensuring the serious lessons are still taught and taken away by the student or candidate.
Since qualifying as a commercial pilot, my heart and career have remained in General Aviation. I have amassed over 8,000 hours in an expansive variety of aircraft.
Importantly, I have flown all around the UK, Europe, the Middle East and even as far as St Helena in the South Atlantic and Bangladesh in South Asia. All in single engine aircraft or light twins – with all the associated adventure of that!
My career outside of instructing and examining has included flight calibration, survey, special mission and air ambulance. Demanding, exacting, exciting and all requiring the utmost commitment. I like to transfer those skills to my students.
Whilst I am qualified to teach at PPL level (Private Pilot Licence), which is very rewarding, I am also able to instruct pilots at post PPL level.
Multi-engine (MEP), as well as single-engine piston (SEP), instrument training, aerobatics, tailwheel, night flying, I love it all. I can also teach the BN2T type rating (a curious rating within a class).
I hold both UK and EASA Flight Instructor qualifications.
Need a test? Maybe a biennial flight or LPC? Need your MEP(Land) renewed, or is your instrument rating revalidation test due?
I hold UK FE privileges for SEP, MEP (including initial PPL tests). I also hold a CRE/IRR which allows me to conduct tests for the revalidation or renewal of both SE and ME IR.
This also enables me to carry out BN2T initial tests and associated renewals, for both single pilot and multi-pilot (SP/MP). I carry out OPCs for a few companies, along with line checks.
